Volunteers Trained
Empowering, and Providing Welfare and Agency to girls and women
Through the GPENDE ASSEMBLIES initiative, Polycom Girls empowers adolescent girls with a focus on self-love, sports, hygiene, and communication. With over 550 trained volunteers, they offer psychosocial support to over 2,500 girls annually, reaching over 3,000 in 2023. The organization promotes inclusion of girls and women—especially those with disabilities and past trauma—by involving them in ward-level barazas and public participation forums across Nairobi, Meru, and Homa Bay. These efforts have led to girls joining advisory boards and leadership roles, including the formation of a children’s parliament.
