Faith Agutu: Champion of the FEMInspire Awards
Faith Agutu has been named Champion of the FEMInspire Daria Awards, recognized for her exemplary initiative and unwavering commitment to gender justice. A gender and development practitioner and young feminist from Kenya, Faith works at the intersection of girls’ rights, GBV prevention and response, and SRHR. Her mission is to ensure that girls and young women , especially those in rural and underserved communities , have their voices heard, access vital information and opportunities, and actively shape solutions to the challenges they face.
Her passion for community-led change, youth leadership, and access to justice shines through in her latest initiative: the Red Flag Movement. Supported by the KSh 10,000 FEMInspire Champion Award, this project seeks to position girls and young women not as passive beneficiaries, but as active agents of change in creating safer communities. The award funds will contribute to developing project materials and engaging girls directly, strengthening their awareness, confidence, and agency to identify threats to their safety and wellbeing — and to act against them.
The idea was sparked by a simple social media trend. Seeing “red flags” used online to highlight warning signs in relationships, Faith asked: What if this language could be transformed into a tool for girls to recognize the red flags of violence, abuse, and unsafe situations before harm occurs? That question became the foundation of the Red Flag Movement, turning digital culture into a powerful tool for awareness, prevention, and action.
Through this initiative, girls are empowered to recognize warning signs, speak up, make informed choices, and lead change in their communities. By reframing vulnerability into agency, Faith Agutu is redefining what safer, more inclusive communities can look like and her recognition as Champion of the FEMInspire Awards shows the transformative power of her vision.
We Celebrate you Faith, we hope to get funding to realize this great initiative.
