Program Overview

Polycom Girls, in partnership with various actors , centering grassroots girls and women, remains steadfast in its commitment to empowering adolescent girls through the GPENDE ASSEMBLIES initiative in pursuit of self-love, transformative sports, hygiene, and resilient communication.. With over 500 trained female volunteers and 50 male volunteers, Polycom provides psycho-social support to more than 2500 adolescent girls annually. Notably, in 2023, this impact reached a record high, benefiting over 3000 adolescent girls. Polycom also facilitates girls and women in their diversity including those with disabilities and survivors of slavery to participate in chief barazas at the ward level ensuring their participation and inclusion in all levels of advocacy. This is the same for public participation in 3 (Homabay, Nairobi and Meru) counties in kenya. The efforts of inclusion and agency have yielded with girls being selected to advisory boards and a remarkable moment when the children’s parliament was formulated and adolescents became leaders within that structure.
